Novemeber 3rd Dimensions of Leadership Session

What a fabulous group we had!  Collen and I truly enjoyed our time together.  While the curriculum provides a script, it is the participants that truly make these sessions a success.  Your openness to share experiences and your varied backgroungs led to a wonderful exchanage of experiences- We thank you!

I promised to post some of the information discussed at our sessi0n that would be of value to you all.

We explore two questions during the personal reflections portion of the session.  We looked to answer two questions: 1- How does your Board of Education define the role of the suerintendent.  2-How do you think this perception involved.

Question One Reponses; How does your BOE define the role of your superintendent?

  • Works at “their pleasure”
  • Responsible for all communication
  • Responsible for staff and student peformance and behavior
  • Responsibility for district failure :(
  • As the main change agent
  • Opposite “of what was” except if the new superintendent has any “passions”- he is supported
  • To lead the district in teaching and learning vs. a focus on physical plant and budget which was the focus of the previous superintendent
  • To be the district spokesperson
  • Honesty***
  • Trust***
  • The #1 child advocate in all area; instruction, policy, procedures***
